Our History

PDM was founded in 1998 as a full-service consulting company developing turn key manufacturing programs for the sporting, industrial, and automotive markets.  The success of these programs led to the creation of our factory direct sourcing for tooling and eventually plastic parts and assemblies from our custom built factory in 2009 located in beautiful southwest Montana.  Our growth continues with molding operations in Juarez Mexico, and Shenzhen China for production tooling and sourcing.

Leadership Team

James Smith, President & COO

Jim Smith is an experienced leader in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing, having worked extensively with Honda, Nissan, and Toyota. With a strong background in injection molding, he has led and managed teams in the design and development of complex automotive components, including safety-critical parts. Jim played a key role in driving value engineering and cost optimization by leading a VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) program across multiple North American facilities. Passionate about lean manufacturing and the relentless pursuit of operational excellence, Jim is committed to improving efficiency, reducing waste, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. His leadership style is rooted in collaboration, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making to achieve sustainable results. Now based in Montana, Jim enjoys the outdoors and takes advantage of the region’s vast public lands, finding balance between his professional pursuits and his appreciation for nature.

Darrell Witham

Darrell Witham, VP Sales & Marketing

Darrell has devoted his professional career to the field of plastics with expertise across the entire landscape of product development and production, from initial design through mold building, and to ongoing supply of high-volume plastic components he’s versed in what it takes in producing competitive commodity products to the most demanding engineered critical components. Clients value his ability to guide designs from award through mass production all the while meeting technical and timeline demands. Darrell serves as PDM Plastics VP of Sales and Marketing, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the highly regarded Ferris State University’s Plastics Engineering Technology program.

Randy Scheid

Randy Scheid, CFO

Throughout his executive career, Randy has been focused on delivering immediate financial results without sacrificing the human element. He has a proven track record of applying extensive cost accounting and operational experience to improve the bottom line in a variety of manufacturing and information technology business models. An Innovative business leader who enjoys building strategic partnerships with clients and mutually respectful relationships with internal resources. The rare professional who has actually lived out the “from the mailroom to the corner office” story and is thankful for all the benefits a journey like that has to offer. Randy currently serves as CFO for PDM Plastics.
